11 Nov 2009 SELECTION PROCESS 2009/10. No doubt if all things went to plan the selection of teams was going to get tough. The time has come where we have 30 players wanting to play and we have 22 spots. So the selection process which has been talked about in the past now has to be enforced to reward those putting in the hard yards for the club. Please read and understand the selection process below. It is important to understand the club has various cost throughout a season. Ground rental, insurance, balls, umpires, electricity, club room rental, updating equipment, rubbish removal, BHRDCA association fees, scorebooks, liquor licence and the junior program. The list can go on. I hope every player understands and appreciates what the committee has to do each season and also understand selection at times may not be easy. The advantage of a one day side is rotation is possible if required. Kind Regards · Members will play in side according to where the match committee believes they should play and not in the side the individual believes they should play · Any player/member who is unhappy with the selection process or with any member of the selection Committee should take their concerns to the Chairman of selectors (Andrew Beaumont) Senior players can check website on Thursday mornings for selected teams for the upcoming round. Unavailable for selection - all players are expected to advise their captain and place their name on the unavailable for selection sheet pinned on the notice board.
The committee decided to cut back to 2 sides in the 2009/10 to provide competition for spots therefore it was up to playing members to fully commit to the Elgar Park Cricket Club. The time of chasing players to play for the club each week was to end, rather we wanted players that want to play for the club each week.
1) Membership fully paid
2) Training attendances (working really only excuse not to make training regularly) Monday’s are available.
3) Form/ team balance
4) Player making part payments through arrangement with the club treasurer (Kali Irish) to have fees paid off.
5) Support towards the club as a whole.
6) Weekly payers as arranged with the club treasurer.
While fees cover most of the club bills the club also relies on bar sales, sausage sizzles and club functions to cover cost and hopefully provide extra money to reward the members with things such as free baggy blue caps and the tennis table for examples.
